Lutron’s wireless lighting control, designed, installed, programmed and supported by an authorised Lutron dealer, for existing houses and renovations across Ayrshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh and the west of Scotland.
Lairds are an authorised Lutron dealer, covering lighting control and window treatments, working across Ayrshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh and the west of Scotland. RadioRA 3 is Lutron’s wireless lighting control system. Lutron introduced it to the UK in January 2025, with keypads designed for the European market, and it sits between a handful of app-controlled switches and the fully wired HomeWorks system we specify for larger new builds. Where a property needs the wired system rather than the wireless one, we say so at survey.
Because it needs no new cabling, RA3 is the right answer for an existing house, a renovation where the walls are staying closed, a single room done well, or an apartment. It also suits a new build where the programme or the budget does not justify a wired system. For a large house built from the ground up, with an equipment room and the walls open at first fix, HomeWorks remains the better system, and we will tell you which is right for the building rather than sell the one in front of us.
We start from the lighting plan. Each circuit’s load type is checked for compatible dimming, keypad positions are agreed with the architect or interior designer, and the scenes are written out before anything is programmed. Our own engineers install and program the system, the client sets the scene levels with us at handover, and a support agreement keeps firmware current afterwards. The engineer who programmed your house is the one who answers the phone.
No. Dimmers and keypads replace the existing switches and use the existing wiring. A few circuits need a particular dimmer or a neutral at the switch position, and the survey tells us which before we quote.
Yes. That is one of the reasons to choose it. A system that starts in the kitchen and living room can grow to the whole house over time on the same processor, and the scenes are re-programmed as rooms are added.
Yes, with all three, and with the Lutron app. We put the processor on a segmented, secured part of the home network so that voice control does not become a way into the rest of the house.
Keypads, schedules and scenes run locally on the processor and carry on. Only remote access from outside the house and voice assistants depend on the internet.
Yes. Lutron’s wireless shades join the same system and the same scenes. The choice of fabrics, wired against battery power and where the pockets go is covered on our window treatments page.
Normally the client, with the architect or interior designer, and with the electrician where there is one. We provide the drawings and the schedule they need and we attend site at the stages that matter.
Lighting control is part of our smart home design and installation work, alongside Lutron HomeWorks for wired projects and Lutron window treatments. Start a conversation and we will survey the house and tell you which system it needs.
