Gailes Hotel & Spa, Irvine: multi-zone audio and video for a wedding and conference venue

A four-star hotel and spa on Marine Drive, Irvine, beside the Gailes golf courses, with function suites that host weddings one day and conferences the next. Lairds designed and installed video distribution with projection and an independent multi-zone audio system with streaming, so that every room runs its own event.

The brief

Gailes turns its function suites round constantly: a wedding on Saturday, a conference on Monday, a dinner dance on Friday. Each needs its own sound, its own screens or projector, and the ability to run without affecting the room next door. The old approach of wheeling in equipment for each event does not survive that programme. The brief to Lairds was a designed system: video to every suite with projection where the room needs it, audio in independent zones, streaming built in, and controls that the events team can operate without an engineer in the building.

What we did

We started with consultation and design: which rooms needed what, where the sources would live, how the suites would be divided and joined, and how the events team wanted to work. From that came a multi-zone video distribution system that sends any source to any suite, with projection in the larger rooms, and a multi-zone audio system in which each zone is fully independent, with streaming services available in every one. The system was commissioned with the team who would use it.

The result

Function suites that are ready for whatever is booked next, run from the venue’s own controls, on a system designed to be added to. It is the pattern for the group: design it properly, install it once, then look after it.
