Si! is SimpsInns’ café, bar and restaurant on the Kilwinning Road in Irvine, with The Potting Shed on its ground floor, relaunched in 2023 as an all-day dining and drinks venue. Lairds look after the audio and screens that set the room from breakfast to late.

The venue

Si! runs all day: coffee and breakfast in the morning, lunch, brunches at the weekend, cocktails and dinner at night, and the room has to change with the hour. Sound is most of how it does that. Too loud at ten in the morning and too quiet at ten at night are the same fault, and a venue that runs its own playlists from a phone behind the bar rarely gets either right.

What we do

Lairds look after the AV at Si! and The Potting Shed as part of our work for SimpsInns: the audio across the café, bar and restaurant and the screens in the bar, with the fault finding and maintenance that keep them working. Si! is one of four SimpsInns venues we look after, with Gailes, The Old Loans Inn and The Waterside.

The result

A room whose sound matches the time of day, screens that are on when they should be, and a venue team who ring one number when something changes. The group relationship is described on the SimpsInns page.
