SimpsInns, Ayrshire: AV and technical services across four venues

SimpsInns is the privately owned, independent group behind The Waterside Hotel at West Kilbride, Gailes Hotel & Spa and Si! in Irvine, and The Old Loans Inn at Troon. Lairds have worked across the group since 2022: designing and installing audio and video where a venue is being refitted, and finding and fixing faults and maintaining what is already there everywhere else.

The group

SimpsInns run four venues along the Ayrshire coast between West Kilbride and Troon: a wedding and events hotel on the shore, a four-star hotel and spa beside the golf courses at Gailes, a café, bar and restaurant on the Kilwinning Road in Irvine, and a country inn at Loans. Between them they host weddings, conferences, Sunday lunches, live music and the everyday trade of four busy bars, and each of them depends on sound and screens that work every day without anyone thinking about them.

That is what a hospitality group needs from a technology contractor, and it is a different job from a one-off installation. Some venues needed new systems designed and installed. Others needed what was already there made to work properly, and then kept working. All of them needed one number to ring.

How we work with the group

Design and installation where a venue is refitted

At Gailes Hotel & Spa we designed and installed multi-zone video distribution with projection for the wedding and conference suites, and a multi-zone audio system with streaming, so that each room runs its own sound and picture independently of the next. Where a venue is being refitted, we work from the drawings with the fit-out team rather than after them.

Fault finding and maintenance where it is not

At The Waterside our work has been technical and AV services, fault finding and continued maintenance: making the existing systems reliable and keeping them that way through a wedding season. That is less visible than an installation and, for a venue, at least as valuable.

Everyday AV across the bars and restaurants

At Si! and The Potting Shed and at The Old Loans Inn the screens and audio are part of the room, and our job is that they are on, in the right place and at the right level when the venue opens.
