Graeme Clark of Wet Wet Wet, acoustic, at the Burns Museum: sound for an evening in Alloway

Hansel asked Lairds to help put on an intimate acoustic evening at the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway: Graeme Clark of Wet Wet Wet with violinist Fiona Cuthill and multi-instrumentalist Stevie Lawrence. We provided the sound and were the engineers for the night.

The brief

Having worked with Hansel over several years, we were asked to assist with a show at the Burns Museum in Alloway: an acoustic set from Graeme Clark, songwriter, producer and bass player of Wet Wet Wet, joined by Fiona Cuthill on violin and Stevie Lawrence on everything else. An acoustic trio in a museum is a delicate thing to amplify. The room has to sound like the room, only closer.

What we did

Lairds provided the audio equipment and an evening of support: PA, mixing desk, microphones and cabling, set up on time, sound-checked with the musicians, and then run from the desk for the performance. We were, for the night, the band’s sound engineers.

The result

A performance that went smoothly, a room that sounded right, and everyone involved, musicians, Hansel and audience, having a great evening. The food, the atmosphere and the museum staff were as good as the music. We wish Graeme and the band every success.
